I decided to take Leah's creativity classes after suffering a burnout and realising that I needed to bring some joy back into my life. I had always been engaged in some creative outlet as a youngster but lost it as work pressures grew. I have a strong inner critic and I was stressing about creating "perfect" work. The first class with Leah made it clear that perfection was definitely not the name of the game! Throughout the course, Leah gave us challenging exercises to force our brains to see things different ways and encouraged us to see creative choices we make in everyday life. The course was exactly what I needed to realign myself and find my creative spark again. The carved out time for creative activity each week was a great escape from the daily grind. In addition to the small tasks and challenges,we worked each week towards our final painting, and I was surprised by what I eventually focused on: something far out of my stylistic comfort zone but very exciting! With Leah's gentle encouragement and guidance, it really came together. At the end of the course it was great to see how each of us participating had chosen something completely different. I highly recommend Leah's classes. The challenge, joy and freedom that comes with them is so worth every euro and more! I have always thought I would like to explore the possibility of painting and drawing but have never been sure where to start . With Leah's encouragement and instruction I learnt to feel less inhibited and more confident to be creative. With each class this was strengthened with varying interesting tasks and so creative confidence was consistently built .
The classes also combined tuition in drawing and painting techniques on paper and canvas with various mediums which we practiced over the time and resulted in many smaller drawings and a large piece on canvas.
Leah 's classes were casual , relaxed and fun!I looked forward to them weekly. -Marina Pisera

I found Lea's art class advertised on the Green School site and it twigged my interest. At the time, having never painted before and a little intimidated by the potential size of the classes of others, something about the venue and Lea's personality I took the plunge. As it turns out, it was a great place to get inspired, I was made comfortable as an absolute beginner to give it a try and was impressed at what I learnt.
The small class size really makes it like having a one-on-one instructor. You move at your own pace. There are no more than five/six students at one time, each at different stages of artistic development, and Lea gave us different tasks to practice and build on with individual demonstrations and instruction.
All this worked well for me, from the first class we were told by the end of the coarse we will have our own painting and asked the start to look for a subject for our individual piece. With this in mind, each lesson made sense and as the skills built up with confidence, I embarked on my first painting which I am quite proud of. Since then, I have collected materials and supplies and am happy to spend some quiet time working on a series of projects which have been quite fulfilling. -James Cerantonio

"I took lessons with Leah Newman last year, and I spent a really good time in her company. I discovered new technics and most importantly, I spend time for me, speaking art, living art...with friends." - Angélique BAGAL

I really enjoyed taking Leah Newman's AdultsCreate class. It was fun, very creative and designed to help us think, draw, and paint outside the box. I still have my painting hung up on the wall in my dining room! - Nicole Umemoto

I took a series of classes with Leah in Almaty - they were great and I felt creative and inspired again. Leah was a bit nervous about teaching me as I had been to art college and have a BA in Fine Art, however I have hardly painted or drawn anything for the last 20 years. Leah took me back to the basics which was great, and it was really interesting seeing how my mind reacted to different projects and concepts - it really got my brain buzzing again. It was so nice to focus fully on something so different for 90 minutes once a week, it helped me clear my head of all other things on my mind and even made me think more clearly out of the classes. I highly recommend classes with Leah - to get your mind thinking laterally again, develop your artistic skills, or if you just want to try something new. - Camila Davies

I signed up for a second and third class after taking the first, and as promised in Leah's promo I now have an acrylic painting hanging on my office wall, painted by me. Prior to taking Leah's art class I had not practiced any art, drawn pictures or even doodled much. I started the class as a lark, as an opportunity to try something different. Leah's class was perfect for a beginner like me - she is supportive and encouraging and helpful with tips and thoughts. The Thursday evening art classes were fun and productive; a class eagerly anticipated each week. Taking an art class and learning about visual expression widens the world around you. Shadow, light, color, shape, lines and curves all are seen in a new way after you've taken a class with Leah. It's fun, non-threatening, relaxing and interesting. Try it. Join the class and widen your visual world and expand your sense of beauty. -Sam Matthews
